We drove through the rest of North Carolina and found a nice state park that had a view of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. The CBBT is almost 18 miles of bridge and tunnel that goes across the lower Chesapeake Bay.

Even though we did not have a destination in mind, we crossed the CBBT in Rosie. It is a pretty cool experience to go from bridge to tunnel to bridge to tunnel back to bridge!
The next morning we went and saw the Historical Archeological Jamestown Area and went on a really informative tour that taught Mom lots, and I even learned a few things. (I studied the Jamestown settlement in school before we left).
After Jamestown we found a really cool plantation state park in Surry, VA. We got to drive Rosie onto the ferry ride across the bay to the island!
We spent the night at Chippokes Plantation State Park. It would be nice to visit on the weekend when they have plantation tours. Someone had left some firewood in the pit, and so we even got to have a fire!
We went to sleep that night looking forward to Colonial Williamsburg the next day.

We were on the ferry the next day headed to Colonial Williamsburg, when this man came up to us, interested in the camper, and told us that he would give us a driving tour of the town and find us some good parking. The man, named Guy, was kind of sketchy, but Mom, being polite, agreed with the man and we drove around Williamsburg together for about 25 minutes and found parking. He had a small camper van that he had converted into a dog kennel on wheels. He took all the seats out and all the windows were open and his six dogs were all barking as we drove down the street. We were in a dog parade! We said goodbye to Guy and hurried off in the opposite direction as fast as possible. Colonial Williamsburg was really interesting and we got to do everything from tasting the ginger bread of the time to touring the jail/ jail keeper’s house.
Next, we drove to Stephens City, VA, where my Aunt Debbie, Uncle Craig, and Cousin Caleb live. It is right next to the Shenandoah National Park and it was the first time that we saw mountains since Arizona! We got to their house around 7:30 and spent about 2 hours playing in the yard and talking.

The next day Caleb and I were out in the yard playing when the neighbor came over. Her name is Julia and she is 9. It was fun to have her to play with and she had lived in Germany for the past few years! Caleb had soccer practice and so we loaded the bikes in the car and got to go mountain biking with Uncle Craig while Caleb practiced.
When we got back we had a few hours of down time before Uncle Craig started grilling burgers, which lead to a movie night with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Caleb had a soccer game that my grandparents joined us to watch. He played really well and we had a fun time.
We went back to the house and packed up Rosie. We said goodbye and headed up to Hancock, Maryland, where my grandparents live.
