On the morning of Mother’s Day, I got up really early to help Granddaddy make breakfast. We made fruit salad, waffles, strawberries and sugar, whipped cream and waffles for breakfast. Once we finished making breakfast Mom got up and the rest of the family started to arrive. My aunt and uncle, Gwynne and John, came first. Then Uncle Craig and his family showed up and we sat down for breakfast.
Next, we got ready to go bike on the C&O canal trail across the street from Grandma and Granddaddy’s B & B, (The 1828 Trail Inn). The inn is next to a paved trail that also has a dirt tow-path on the other side of the canal to ride bikes or hike. It’s called the Western Maryland Rail Trail and their Inn is smack dab in the middle of the 22 mile paved stretch. Their stretch is part of a continuous 400 mile, traffic free bicycling and walking trail system connecting downtown Pittsburgh, PA and ends in downtown Washington DC!
After biking part of the trail Caleb, Craig, Grandaddy and I went down to the park to play some basketball. It was really fun and Caleb and I totally creamed the adults!
We said our goodbyes to Craig and his family, and then went to lunch with the grandparents.
Also, Hancock, MD is the skinniest part of the state where within 1.5 miles, you can drive through West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. We took Rosie on that drive and marked off the states on our map.
