When we entered Louisiana I was ecstatic to be in such a beautiful state! When we were driving on the highway to our friends Nancy and Theo’s house everything on the side of the road was green! When we rolled down our windows it smelled so fresh and clean. After about and hour of driving through Louisiana, we finally got to their house! They live in a beautiful little town called Covington. They have a sweet little dog named Beignet, Benny for short!

Our first few nights in Louisiana, we stayed at Fairview Riverside State Park. It was on the Tchefuncte River.

The next day was Mardi Gras! We went to downtown Covington for a Mardi Gras parade. It was not like the New Orleans parades but it was very family-friendly. We had a lot of fun collecting beads and seeing all of the floats.

After the parade, we went to a place called the Trailhead to have lunch. After we had a bite, we went over to Nancy and Theo’s friend’s house. They had two little dogs that were so adorable!
The next day we got up and chilled for a bit before going over to the trailhead for some lunch at the Farmer’s Market. After lunch, we went back to Nancy’s house and did some crafts for the rest of the day. When we had gotten a good night’s rest, we went and checked into our Lakeview rental house. The house was great! It was right on the lake and there were three bikes that you could ride!

The next day Sawyer and Dad came! After we picked them up from the airport, we went to lunch in New Orleans. After lunch we found a delicious bakery.

The next day we went to a swamp tour! On the tour we learned about the swamp, alligators, plant life and birds in the area. One interesting thing I learned was that if the temperature outside is 86 degrees or lower, all the eggs will be female. If the temperature outside is 93 degrees or higher all the eggs will be male. The eggs within 86-93 degrees be a mix of female and male.

After the swamp tour we went to The Dew Drop Inn. It is a place where they have live music and we got to see the Kenny Neal band.
The next day we got up and went to brunch with Theo and Nancy at Rips on the Lake.
When Theo and Mom went to park the car, they passed a crawfish boil and brought them back to the table!
The next morning, we got up and went over to a town called Abita Springs. We had breakfast and went over to the Abita Mystery House. It is a museum where there is a lot of random stuff, but it was very interesting.

After breakfast, we had to take Sawyer and Dad to the airport to fly them home:(
We went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner and it was raining very hard. When it stopped raining, the roads where flooded! It is common in the area and the water went down within an hour.

We LOVE Louisiana and cannot wait to return!!
Wow!!!
