North Carolina

We got the chance to stay with our friends Julie, Mike and Jackson. Once we got to Wrightsville Beach, we were immediately introduced to what I like to call, ‘beach culture’. We were told to take our shoes off and since it was high tide, Jackson and I were looking for shells within minutes of meeting! We then walked 2 minutes over to the big beach and boogie boarded until it was almost dark.
When we got back to their house, we loaded up the boat and set off for an island with really cool shells on it, hoping to see the moon rise at the same time the sun was setting. It was lots of fun and I even got to drive the boat!

We went to bed that night excited about the next day adventures.

We had to get up pretty early the next morning because we were going to kayak over to the island before the sun got too hot.
When we were loading into the kayaks Julie spotted some dolphins across the canal, and so we hurried to get out there hoping to interact with them. We got to the spot where the dolphins were and while we were waiting one came right up next to Mom.  It was amazing! It came so close to her that she could have touched it! In the wild!
We went over to the island and for 5 hours.  We looked for shells, found clay in the ground,  played in the ocean, watched for birds and we even found a weird plant growing in the tide pools called sea snot!

We returned home and after an hour of down time, Jackson and Mike went to baseball practice and Mom and I went on a self guided bike tour of the town and went to dinner at a restaurant where we got to eat on the pier. It was really cool!

That night we easily fell asleep to the faint sounds of the waves somewhere in the distance.

The next morning we got up slowly went out on the paddle boards and kayaks to another island that was more marsh than anything else. There was a really fun lazy river and the water was so warm that Mom even got in!

We found some more shells on the island and then headed back to the house and got ready to go. We said our good byes and headed out in Rosie towards Virginia.
